Alessandra Giuriola is a freelance theatre director, stage manager, and author. Her artistic approach is shaped by a strong sense of collectivism, an interest in interpersonal relationships, and a love for documentary material. For her, theatre is a collaborative space where lived reality and artistic imagination merge, transforming personal stories into shared stage experiences.

Raised in Venice, Alessandra graduated summa cum laude in Literature, Theatre and Comparative Literature from Ca’ Foscari University of Venice. After early experiences in Italy directing community theater and collaborating with institutions like the Venice Biennale and the city’s youth policy departments, she moved to Germany in late 2015 to immerse herself in the German theater landscape.

In Berlin, she co-founded the international collective B.E.T. (Berlin Expat Theatre), creating pieces that premiered at the Berlin Performing Arts Festival. This period solidified her signature dramaturgical method: gathering a vast archive of interviews and conversations with people from different backgrounds. By weaving these real-life testimonies into classical myths or fictional structures, she treats the voices of the community as the core of the script.

Between 2020 and 2024, Alessandra worked at the Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus as an assistant director and stage manager. This time allowed her to master the machinery of major German state theatre, supervising over twenty productions and collaborating with numerous renowned directors. Parallel to her institutional work, she staged her own independent productions in Düsseldorf, focusing on minimalist, text-based, and immersive formats that experimented with sound design and choral storytelling.

Now working entirely as an independent theatre maker, she continues to develop documentary, participatory, and feminist projects across Germany and Europe.

She currently divides her time between Berlin, Cadiz, and Venice, and works internationally.
